Aedra above it was good to once more have a legion under my control. Work upon the Settlement had begun in earnst. The engineers who had been bored to tears sitting in the Imperial city worked by torch light to begin laying out the buildings strattling the road Which ment that in order for people to travel this road they would need to go through the village which ment traffic. Add to that the fact that the lumber mill would now receive the protection of a settlement and all appeared to be rather happy despite the fact that the settlement was being built by the legions. When the mill discovered out presence and purpose it nearly began working night and day to ensure we would have the more than enough wood to suit out needs. To aid as best I could, I detailed a regement to assist with cutting the trees and the transport of the raw lumber, another to help strip the branches, and a pair of units to assist with the cutting of the lumber into boards.
I swear there is nothing in the world of Nirn more efficient that a Legion in the right hands. There was grumbling sure but as much as the men grumbled you could clearly see their love of having something to do save marching through the streets and harass the populus in an effort to keep them behaving.
Either way within a week we had the basements dug and foundations laid for the entire village, and the outter walls halfway completed. If there is anything a legion knows how to build its walls of stone after all. And the 913th was the damn best there ever was at building the heavy structures for defence. Much like our armor, the structures we built are built to last and withstand the heaviest of blows from our mortal foes.
I stood on the outer walls helping the men lay stone when a Courier arrived demanding an audience. He stood beside one of my Pretoreans patiently while I climbed down from the outer wall, "Courier you bring me word?"
"Aye Milord."
"It's Sir, not Mi'lord, I am no nobleman. Now your message?"
He held out a piece of paper, which the Pretoreon promptly took from him and openned reading it over, "An Emperial magestrate will be arriving next week to assess the progress on his way to Solitude to meet with the Imperial ambassedor."
I looked at the Pretorean and nodded, "Send word to the men out assisting the mill we will need to bring all of the previously cut lumber into the village. We will also need to step up the Lumber production send another bettalion to the Mill to assist. If we must keep the mill running all night do so."
He nodded and handed me the slip of paper and turned to go about his new task. Clamping a hand on the couriers shoulder I looked to the camps kitchens, "Come along Courier, lets get you a meal before you return."
I signal to the men back on the wall to continue their tasks, "Gentlemen, we have Imperial visitors within a week, lets make sure we have a safe place for them to visit," I roared out so the entire worksite could hear me, "I EXPECT THESE OUTER WALLS FINALLIZED AND I WANT THAT MANORS FIRST FLOOR FINISHED BY TURDAS!"
